Fans Line Up at Potbelly for Local “Voice” Singer

22-year-old Jamie Lono performed one of his songs in Studio 5 Monday

Local singer Jamie Lono, who recently rose to stardom after making it on NBC's "The Voice," stopped by the NBC 5 Studios Monday morning.

The 22-year-old from Vernon Hills said he was "ecstatic" when he made it on the show, but everything is still surreal to him.

"I go into work and people will come in looking for me. ... I just signed my first autograph ever," said Lono, who continues to work at Potbelly Sandwich Works in Vernon Hills, even after his rise to fame.

Lono said he chose CeeLo Green to be his coach on the show because "he just won me over, he speaks the same language as me. ... He said the right things at the right time."

Lono's following on Twitter and Facebook rapidly grew after his audition aired. He said he hopes this opportunity will help him play music around the world.

"The Voice"
airs on NBC 5 every Monday at 7 p.m.
