About 17 people were taken to hospitals and 70 others evaluated by paramedics after a crash involving two school buses Thursday morning in Lake County, authorities said.
The Lake County Sheriff’s office said the crash happened just after 11 a.m. near Route 137 and River Road in unincorporated Libertyville. Police said the injuries were non-life threatening, but further details on conditions weren't immediately released.
Paramedics were called to the scene and drivers were urged to avoid the intersection.
The incident involved students from North Suburban YMCA Summer Camp in Northbrook. Parents were told to also avoid coming to the scene of the crash as arrangements were being made to bring the students back to the camp.
