Infant's Death Investigated for Abuse

The baby suffered from bleeding on the brain, retinal hemorrhages and fractures, doctors said

An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday for a 3-month-old baby from Chicago's northwest side.

Jayden Tufel was taken to Children's Memorial Hospital Monday by his parents. He died just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police were told Jayden suffered from bleeding on the brain, retinal hemorrhages and fractures to his ribs. Doctors also noted two older rib fractures that were healing.

Detectives on Wednesday confirmed they took a 23-year-old man and 19-year-old woman in for questioning. Police also searched the home in the 5100 block of Ainslie Street, where the child lived.

The Department of Children and Family Services are investigating the possibility the baby was abused by his parents, but so far they haven't found any history between the department and the family.

Authorities say there are no other children living inside the home.
