Indiana Dunes Body Identified

Cause of death appears natural

A description of a man found dead in the Indiana Dunes on Wednesday has led to his identification.

The man is Dalton Jones III, 39, of the 4100 block of East 13th Place, in Gary’s Aetna neighborhood, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner P.J. Adams.

"It appears to be a natural death, but we have to wait for toxicology," Adams said.

Adams said Jones was jogging up and down the dune, near shuttered Aetna School. "Some of his clothing was at the top of the dune, he was found toward the bottom."

Adams noted the temperature was in the 90s on Wednesday, the day the body was discovered.

He thanked the Post-Tribune for publishing the description that led to the man’s identification.

The description included not only a physical description, but also descriptions of his clothing and tattoos.
