An Illinois State Police trooper was shot while executing a search warrant in East St. Louis Friday, authorities said.
ISP confirmed the shooting around 7:30 a.m., but further information on what happened wasn’t immediately available.
Police said more information was expected to be released “as it becomes available.”
East St. Louis is located in southwest Illinois, just over the border from St. Louis, Missouri. It is roughly 300 miles from Chicago.
