Disability Parking Stings Launched Across State

Penalties include $500 fine, loss of license

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White is cracking down on scofflaws who improperly use disability license plates and placards.

Secretary of State Police were at Soldier Field on Sunday, looking for drivers who are parking in spots for the disabled, but shouldn't.

White said similar stings are happening across the state.

Drivers who illegally park in a disabled space face a $250 fine. Those caught misusing placards are subject to a $500 fine, and can also have their license suspended.
