Heat Prompts Shortened Schedules For Some Illinois Schools

Several Illinois school districts have issued heat schedules

Several Illinois school districts have issued heat schedules because of predicted hot, humid conditions on Tuesday.

The following schools are affected. Check back for more information as it becomes available.

School District 129, which includes West Aurora, North Aurora, Montgomery and Sugar Grove, will release students early using the following dismissal schedule:

10:40 a.m. -- High school (practices will be held immediately after this early dismissal time)
11 a.m. -- Todd Early Childhood Center and no afternoon pre-school
11 am. -- Hope Wall pre-school and no afternoon pre-school
11:20 a.m. -- Elementary schools and Hope Wall School
 Noon -- Middle schools (no after-school athletic practices or events).
 
District 60, which includes Waukegan Public Schools, will shorten all grade levels between 28 and 50 minutes. All middle schools and early-start elementary schools will begin at 7 a.m.

Middle schools will dismiss at 1:05 p.m. and early-start elementary schools will dismiss at 12:40 p.m. High school campuses and late-start elementary schools will begin at 8 a.m. Zero period classes at WHS will begin at 7:15 a.m. High schools will dismiss at 2:05 p.m. and late-start elementary schools will dismiss at 1:40 p.m.

Taft School Dist 90 in Lockport, plans to dismiss at 1:30 p.m. All activities have been canceled and Curriculum Night will be rescheduled.

At Community Consolidated School District 46, Grayslake, Meadowview and Woodview schools, will be closed. All other D46 schools will be in session.

Josephinum Academy in Chicago will have a half-day. Students will be dismissed at noon, and lunch will not be served.
