An Illinois man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for trafficking thousands of fake Viagra pills to Texas.
Fayez Al-Jabri of Chicago was sentenced Thursday by a federal judge in Houston in a case involving bogus prescription pills from China.
Al-Jabri in March pleaded guilty to multiple conspiracy, trafficking and counterfeit prescription drug counts.
An indictment returned last August says Al-Jabri and a Houston-area man, Jamal Khattab of Katy, smuggled counterfeit Viagra from China since 2010. The pills allegedly were shipped to Chicago or Houston in bulk for illegal sales in smaller quantities.
Khattab in December pleaded guilty to the same charges as Al-Jabri and awaits sentencing.
