IRS Says R. Kelly Owes Millions in Unpaid Taxes

R. Kelly faces major money problems

R. Kelly must answer to the feds if he doesn't pay a reported $5 million in unpaid taxes.

The IRS claims the "King of R & B" owes big time and this isn't the first time.

Last year, Kelly's 20,000-square-foot mansion in Olympia Fields went into foreclosure, and J.P. Morgan Chase Bank claimed he owed more than $2.9 million on the home.

Recently filed documents from the Cook County Recorder of Deeds state Kelly owes taxes dating back to 2005. The Chicago Sun Times reports Kelly paid $2.6 million in back taxes in 2008 and more than $1 million last year.

But records show Kelly still owes the federal government more than $4.8 million.

He owes $1.47 million for 2005, $710,000 for 2006, $380,000 for 2007, $1.12 million for 2008, $170,000 for 2009 and $990,000 for 2010, the records state.

The South Side crooner is one of the best-selling and highest earning recording artists of all time.

He is due to release his 11th album next month.
