House Explodes in Suburban Manhattan

No one was injured in the blast

Investigators are searching for the cause of an explosion that leveled a house in Manhattan, Illinois Thursday morning.

No one was injured in the blast, but one woman was home when the explosion happened at 10:47 a.m. on the 25800-block of Redstone Drive, the Joliet Herald-News reported.

“She was able to make it out on her own, but was taken to the hospital for observation,” Manhattan Fire Chief Dan Forsythe said.

The structure was "totally destroyed," said Forsythe.

Manhattan is located in Will County.
