Two Charged in Roseland Standoff

Two men have been charged after an early morning hostage situation inside a Roseland home.

Police responded about 3:40 a.m. to the 0-100 block of East 102nd Street, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The police Hostage Barricade Team learned a male was inside the home with at least one other person and two dogs, said Greer.

No shots were fired and nobody was injured. The suspect who caused the incident finally came out about 6:30 a.m., police said.

Mirabelli did not know how many children were in the home or their ages, but dispatch reports indicated one baby and four children under the age of 10 were at the home.

One man was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment while another man was charged with resisting police, according to a Calumet District police lieutenant. Their names were not immediately available.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was notified but they did not take custody of the children inside.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
