Group of 4 Men Rob Man in Grant Park

A man was beaten and robbed Monday night by a group of four men in Grant Park near Columbia College’s downtown campus.

The 22-year-old was walking north about 10:30 p.m. near the area of Balbo and Michigan along the Garden Path when four men between 18 and 19 years old walked up to him, according to Chicago Police and a statement from the Office of Camus Safety & Security at Columbia College.

One of the men grabbed the victim, knocked him to the ground, tore his pants and took his wallet while the others hit and kicked him, the statement said. The men then ran away south on Michigan.

The man suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment, police said. The robbers were described as four black men wearing green and black hoodies.

The security office has added additional patrol resources to the surrounding area, according to the statement.

No one was in custody Tuesday morning as Area Central detectives investigated.
