Girl Escapes From Abductor

Girl, 17, kidnapped at a West Side bus stop

A teenage girl is safe after escaping her kidnapper at a West Side bus stop, according to the Harrison Area detectives.

The 17-year-old girl was waiting by a bus stop in the 300 block of North Kedzie Avenue at about 7:20 Tuesday morning when a van pulled to the curb. An African American man between 30 and 40 years old jumped out and forced the teen in the vehicle, police said.

The victim escaped after being left in a garage.

The van is described as purple with gray "bondo" patches, a cover for body damage, on the passenger side. Police said the man was bald, stood about 6 feet to 6 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed between 200 and 220 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing, they said.
