Giordano's Now Offering The Impossible Pizza, Featuring Plant-Based Sausage

The new offering will be available at 70 locations nationwide beginning Tuesday, marking the first pizza chain to offer a plant-based topping nationwide, according to the company

Giordano’s is adding a new topping to its menu - plant-based sausage. 

The iconic pizza chain known for its deep dish zas has announced plans to introduce “The Impossible Pizza,” featuring the restaurant’s “signature sausage recipe” made with Impossible meat.

The new offering will be available at 70 locations nationwide beginning Tuesday, marking the first pizza chain to offer a plant-based topping nationwide, according to the company. 

Impossible Foods announced in May that it was making meatless "sausage" crumbles for the Little Caesars pizza chain in some states.

Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are now appearing on fast food menus across the United States with chains like Burger King, McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Subway, KFC and several others in offering up a plant-based options for diners.

From April 2018 to April 2019, the plant-based retail market has registered 11% growth, according to data published on the Plant Based Foods Association website.

“Plant-based foods are a growth engine, significantly outpacing overall grocery sales,” PBFA Senior Director of Retail Partnerships Julie Emmett said in a press release.
