Ghost Sightings in Genesee Theater Nothing to Boo About

Paranormal Investigators On The Case

Something creepy is going on at the Genesee Theater in Waukegan and it has nothing to do with the upcoming premiere of “Young Frankenstein."

Reports of things going bump in the night prompted the theater to enlist the Northern Alliance of Paranormal Investigators for a peek. The paranormal researchers sampled and prodded, and taking their findings very seriously, enough to warrant further investigation reports the News-Sun.

“After combing through hours of evidence, the ghost hunters [of] NAPI feel their findings warrant follow-up investigation.”  Theatre officials said.  “There were several instances in the results of the initial investigation that the organization found no scientific means to explain, including several electronic voice phenomena recorded on digital audio.”

Since it was built in 1927, the theater’s been at the center of many memorable ghost stories. Like the one about an unseen laughing girl whose footfalls can be heard in the aisles, ghosts in the upstairs hallways and appearances of Genesee’s dead founders around stage curtains.

NAPI investigators – made up mainly of volunteers from Kenosha, Wisconsin say they’ll return for a second visit to set up digital recording devices.  They’ll monitor the 82-year-old building while it’s empty said Genesee officials in a statement last week.

There’s no set schedule for the new ghost hunt, but Genesee officials said the theatre “expects to release any evidence of paranormal findings at the conclusion of all investigations.”
