Frost Advisory Issued for Chicago Area

The advisory will take effect at 1 a.m. Sunday as temperatures may dip into the lower 30s

After a Friday night of rain and storms throughout the Chicago area, the wild weather weekend is not over yet. The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory, set to take effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday.

The Advisory will impact Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake (Illinois), Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, and DuPage counties.

Wind gusts Saturday were up to 20-30 miles throughout the Chicago area, and while winds are not expected to calm through the evening, areas of frost are still likely.

Saturday morning temperatures were in the 40s throughout the city and suburbs, and while most of the storms passed through the area, there were a few instances of isolated sprinkles throughout the area.

Clearing skies Saturday night will allow temperatures to dip into the lower to middle 30s.

Widespread frost is expected, and the NWS warns that sensitive outdoor plants may be damaged or killed if left uncovered.
