Four Charged in Police Chase, Crash

Four men were charged Tuesday in connection with a police chase and crash Monday in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

Five people were injured in the crash, the culmination of a police chase that started in the 1100 block of East 62nd Street when police say they received a report of a handgun being passed to the four suspects inside a stolen Lexus SUV.

Police chased the SUV to the intersection of King and Marquette where is smashed into a red Pontiac. Three women inside the car were treated and released from a local hospital.

The driver, Malik Brooks, 19, was charged with felony aggravated fleeing causing bodily injury, and a misdemeanor count of driving without ever having been issued a license.

The passengers, Kadree Renfro, 21, Elisha Land, 20, and Marquise Delphie, 30, were all charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass to vehicles.

Brooks will appear in bond court Wednesday.

No weapon was recovered from the scene.
