Former Housemate Charged With Killing Palatine Father And Son

Police say a teen charged with killing a Palatine father and son Wednesday used to live with the victims, and held several grudges against the victims.

Marco Lopez, 17, is charged with two counts of first degree murder in the shooting deaths of Segundo Reynoso and his 15-year-old son, Luis.

The victims were discovered lying on the floor with gunshot wounds in a home at the Baldwin Greens Apartments in the 1900 block of Green Lane North at about 12:25 a.m.

Police say Lopez and Luis Reynoso were gang members and friends for several years until they had a falling out after Lopez believed Luis provided information to investigators about multiple burglaries they were both arrested for.

Lopez lived with the Reynosas for a short time after he was kicked out of his own home, according to police, but the elder Reynosa asked him to leave because of the bad influence he was having on his son.

Police say several witnesses have corroborated Lopez' anger at both of the shooting victims. Luis Reynosa was shot multiple times in the chest, and Segundo Reynoso was shot in the face.

At a court hearing Friday, Lopez was denied bond and will be tried as an adult.
