5 People Shot on Chicago's West Side: Police

Five people were shot on Chicago’s West Side Tuesday night when a person walked up and opened fire, police confirmed.

Three females and two males, whose ages were not immediately known, were shot about 8:48 p.m. in the 200 block of South Lotus in the city's Austin neighborhood, police said.

Three of the people were in fair condition and two were in serious, Chicago fire officials said. Two were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and three others were taken to Stroger Hospital.

No other details were immediately available.
