Fired Stroger Aide Files for Unemployment

Prosecutors claim she steered a county contract to her company

Carla Oglesby is asking Cook County to support her financially despite allegations she stole from taxpayers.

County officials confirmed Todd Stroger's former deputy chief of staff filed an unemployment claim with the state just days after she was released from jail on $250,000 bond for allegedly steering county contracts toward her business, according to Fox News Chicago.

Oglesby is charged with theft, money laundering and official misconduct. Prosecutors accused her of participating in a scheme to award a $24,900 county contract to her PR firm

Oglesby resigned from her $120,000 a year job after Stroger asked for her resignation following her arrest in early October.
