A fire sparked at a parking garage for a Chicago high-rise Friday afternoon sending clouds of smoke pouring onto Lake Shore Drive.
The fire started at a building near 5050 S. Lake Shore Drive. Fire officials reported a still and box alarm at the scene just after 1 p.m., but the fire was said to be "under control" just before 1:30 p.m.
The blaze was believed to have started on the third floor of the south tower of the 37-floor building, fire officials said. There was building material on the roof of a parking garage, which caused heavy smoke at the scene.
The building was not evacuated and no injuries were reported. No flames or smoke entered the residential area, officials said.
