Fibbing Grandma Wanted Her Keys

She told authorities she was held at gunpoint

A woman in Lockport Township is being charged with disorderly conduct for lying about being held hostage.

Authorities in Will County responded Sunday to a call from Geneva Ward, 48, about a hostage situation. But when they arrived at the home, they found that the woman's relatives were holding her car keys hostage, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

A Will County spokesperson said Ward had wanted to go somewhere with her grandchildren, but the children's parents thought she was intoxicated and unfit to drive.

Ward then called 911 and reported she was being held at gunpoint, according to the Sun-Times.
