Fergie Feels Sorry … for Herself

Says she was "not in my right place"

“I feel really sorry for her," Sarah Ferguson said on Oprah this Tuesday. "It’s sad, really sad.”

Funny thing is, she was talking about herself.

Following the exposure of a tape showing Ferguson negotiating a $40,000 bribe for access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, the Duchess of York sat down with Oprah to discuss the ordeal.

As Ferguson watched the tape -- for the first time, all the way through, -- she referred to herself in the third person, calling the woman on the screen  a different person than the one that sat in the studio.

“I was out of control with desperation,” she said on Oprah in a pre-taped segment. “What you’re seeing there is part of me. I haven’t faced the devil in the face because I was in the gutter at that moment.”

Fergie revealed to Oprah that she had been drinking before the meeting with the undercover reporter, although how much remains unknown. Ferguson also disclosed that she has  “substantial” debt, which she claimed as the catalyst behind her actions.

Oprah asked how much debt she had, but Ferguson declined to reveal the extent.

“All I know is that it happened and now I have to move forward,” Fergie said. “I will beg for forgiveness.”

The Duchess said that although she was in the early stages of forgiving herself, she had already earned the forgiveness of Prince Andrew, a “good person” and understanding man.

“Through my actions, I have hurt millions of people, first and foremost my friends and family,” she said. “I accept everything I have done and just go forward. I must go forward.”
