Father Held on $2M Bail for Allegedly Beating Daughter to Death

The girl's body was found in a Dolton hotel room

A Dixmoor man was ordered held in lieu of $2 million bail Saturday for allegedly beating his teenage daughter to death in a Dolton motel while high on drugs.

Larry D. Woods, 34, told police he was high on marijuana and PCP when he beat his 16-year-old daughter, Gloria Woods, in an argument over money, according to Dolton police spokeswoman TaQuoya Kennedy. The girl had been visiting her father for the weekend.

A housekeeper at the Best Motel & Suites in the 1300 block of East Sibley Boulevard in Dolton discovered the girl covered in blood inside one of the hotel rooms on Wednesday and notified police. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Her death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office found the girl had been beaten to death.

Police arrested Woods on Wednesday when he returned to the motel, Kennedy said.
