Fans Line Up Early to Hear Oprah's News

It's not every day that a TV icon announces her departure from network television.

Fans of Oprah Winfrey who will be in the audience at "The Oprah Winfrey Show" started lining up early outside Harpo studios this morning.

They want to witness a piece of history when Oprah Winfrey announces that she is leaving her daytime teleivision show in Septemeber 2011. They want to hear about the plans straight from the diva's mouth. 

“We’re all giddy, that’s why we’re here early,” said Carole Stallworthy, who came all the way from Toronto to hear the news. “I like to think of this as a stepping stone to her next success. I think that whatever she does next will turn to gold.”

Audience member Rachel Lavipour of Las Vegas says she thinks Winfrey's announcement is "a huge moment in our pop culture history."

And fan Sandra Donaldson of Indianapolis says it's an honor to attend the taping. Donaldson says she's looking forward to Winfrey's next projects.

Winfrey's show airs in 145 countries worldwide and is watched by an estimated 42 million viewers a week in the U.S. alone.
