Family Offers Reward in Fatal Hit-and-Run

The family of a Lake Zurich girl killed in a weekend hit-and-run is offering a reward to anyone with information about the driver.

Gabriella Drozdz, 18, was killed around 9:15 p.m. Friday when a light-colored SUV swerved off Church Street, hitting her and two friends from behind as they walked on the shoulder of the road. The driver then drove away without stopping, last seen heading south on Church Street.

After the accident, Drozdz was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead. Her two friends did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The wake and memorial service for Drozdz are scheduled for Friday at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services, 415 S. Buesching Road, in Lake Zurich. The Mass will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish, 135 S. Buesching Road in Lake Zurich.

Drozdz's family has set up a Facebook page and an online memorial to raise money for the reward, according to the Daily Herald.
