Manhunt for Chicago Fugitive Over

Marco Smith was apprehended in Forest Park

The FBI manhunt for an alleged Chicago gang member and drug dealer ended last week following an arrest for a simple traffic violation in suburban Forest Park, the Associated Press reports.

Police apprehended Marco Smith, 31, following a foot chase along the embankment of an expressway and a Chicago Transit Authority right of way.

Smith had been on the run since December 2008 when a federal grand jury found him guilty of distributing both wholesale and personal use quantities of crack cocaine, according to an FBI release.

"The search for Smith is intensifying as he too may be aided in his flight from justice by fellow gang members," the release said.

The West Side Chicago man is the last of 14 "Vice Lord" gang members to be arrested in connection to a drug operation near 18th Street and Pulaski Road, an area known as the "Spot," WBBM Newsradio reports.

The 13th suspect was arrested in early May, after police discovered him hiding in Chicago.
