An extra-alarm fire engulfed a South Side building last night that took more than an hour to extinguish.
The fire broke out at 11:12 p.m., in the 8600 block of South Houston Avenue. It began in a two-and-a-half story residential building and spread to a building next door. The fire was extinguished at 12:20 a.m..
No injuries were reported, but the fire reportedly has displaced more than a dozen residents. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
