Suspect in Custody For ‘Explosive Device' in Evanston

A person of interest is in Evanston police custody after an explosive device was found outside one of their department outposts

Evanston police recovered an explosive device Saturday outside one of their stations and have a person in custody.

Police received a tip about a possible explosive device at the Evanston Police Department located at 633 Howard St., according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The tip appeared credible, and bomb technicians from the Cook County Sheriff's police responded to the scene. Technicians found a device behind the building and disabled the explosive.

The suspect in custody admitted to acting alone and said that no other devices were placed, Evanston police said.

As of Monday morning, no charges have been filed.
