Patron Leaves Waitress $1000 Tip

This elderly patron never forgot this waitress' kindness or good deed

Good things come to those who wait, and sometimes for those who wait tables.

Elizabeth "Peg" Hewitt, 95, of Gurnee recently passed away and left a $1,000 gift for her favorite waitress from Waukegan's Peacock Restaurant, the Sun-Times reports.

The waitress, Marie Kernin, provided Hewitt with more than just friendly service.

About two years ago Kernin bought a coat for Hewitt when she noticed the elderly woman's coat was not a sufficient barrier from the cold. Hewitt's neighbor and longtime friend, Leslie Klocek, told Sun-Times this was away to repay that kindness that was never forgotten.
