Downers Grove Man Charged With Burglarizing Deceased Neighbors' Home

A DuPage man has been charged with allegedly stealing from the home of his neighbors, who died in a murder-suicide in July, officials said.

Suspect Kenneth Harry entered his late neighbors' home in the 6200 block of Park Avenue several times between Aug. 28 and Sept. 17, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office.

Harry allegedly stole several items, including an amplifier and six Coach purses. Harry then proceeded to pawn the items and keep the money for himself, according to state's attorney spokesman Paul Darrah.

“The very idea that someone would steal items from their recently deceased neighbors is revolting,” DuPage State's Attorney Robert Berlin said.  “The allegations that Mr. Harry did just that will not be taken lightly and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Harry was charged with three counts of residential burglary and two counts of Theft. If convicted, he could face six to 30 years in prison.

His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 21.
