Driver Shot on Stevenson Expressway

A man was shot while driving down the Stevenson Expressway Friday morning.

The man told police he was driving northbound on I-55 around 11:15 a.m. when someone in another car drove past and shot him in the face near the 59th Street exit, Illinois State Police said.

The victim, whose age was not immediately known but is believed to be an adult, drove himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, police said. He was was transferred to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he’s in “stable” condition, police said.

The victim told officers the offender’s car had an Ohio license plate and was either a maroon or gray Chevy Suburban SUV, police said.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
