Driver Questioned Following Fatal Skokie Crash

Police are questioning the driver of a white vehicle that may have played a role in the death of a 23-year-old Chicago man who was killed when his car struck a tree in a single-vehicle accident Thursday morning in north suburban Skokie.

The crash happened about 11 a.m. at 3850 Dempster St., when a black 1996 Ford Mustang coupe, traveling westbound on Dempster, left the road and hit a tree in the parkway, a statement from Skokie police said.

John Khosho, of the 6700 block of North Artesian Avenue, was pronounced dead at Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston at 11:41 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

Khosho was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.

Police said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, but said the car’s air bag deployed upon impact.

Skokie police released surveillance video of the crash, and later identified the driver of the white car they believe was involved, according to a statement issued Friday night.

Police were in the process of interviewing him Friday night, although no arrest had been made and no charges had been filed, Skokie Police Cmdr. Brian Baker said.

Police ask anyone who might have witnessed the crash to call (847) 982-5900.
