Driver Airlifted To Hospital After Plowing Into West Chicago Garage

Video shows the vehicle flipped over and partially inside the garage, which separated from the house in the crash

A man was airlifted Friday morning from a neighborhood in West Chicago after his vehicle struck a home and plowed through an attached garage.

Police said the vehicle crashed into the residence at Colford and Oakwood avenues at about 9:37 a.m.

Video of the scene showed the car flipped over and partially inside the garage, which had separated from the home in the crash. Debris was scattered across the yard.

The man who rents the home, who asked not to be identified, said no one was inside at the time. He said the car sheared off his dining room where his kids were eating breakfast just a short time earlier.

Witnesses said the driver was going about 80 mph to 100 mph leading up to the crash.

The man had to be extricated by the fire department, police said. He was flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

His condition was not immediately known, and police said the crash is under investigation.
