A dog that was set for adoption at a Chicago-area animal shelter was stolen from the facility over the weekend.
Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook says an 8-year-old Jack Russell terrier named Mr. Reese was taken from his cage at the shelter after someone broke in sometime between 7 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
The shelter said Mr. Reese is neutered and micro-chipped and a $1,000 reward has been offered for his safe return.
“Heartland staff, volunteers and his prospective adoptive family are devastated!” a flyer from the shelter reads.
Anyone with information surrounding Mr. Reese’s whereabouts is asked to call (847) 361-1901.
