Police are investigating the shooting of a dog Saturday afternoon in the South Side New City neighborhood, officials said.
A 9-month-old pit bull chow mix was fatally shot around 1 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Ada Street, police said.
The owner of the dog, named Simba, said he was in a fenced-in back yard when she heard a gunshot and saw a man put something in his coat and run away.
Police are still investigating, but no further details were available.
