Doctor Placed on Leave After Patient Alleges Assault

Woman claims doctor fondled her while she was semi-conscious

Administrators at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn put a physician on leave after a patient said the doctor touched her inappropriately.

Dr. Rajat Prakash of Oak Brook is scheduled to appear in a Bridgeview courtroom next month to face misdemeanor battery charges, according to The Sun-Times  Prakash turned himself over to police upon returning from overseas on Feb. 11.

The alleged victim is a 32-year-old woman being treated for multiple sclerosis. Her attorney told the Sun-Times that the doctor sent his client text messages and even asked her to meet him for drinks at a nearby hotel. Olson also alleged Prakash fondled her while she was in a semi-conscious state.

In a statement issued to the Sun Times, a Advocate Christ Medical Center spokesperson, said, "The physician is on leave of absence pending a full review of the case. Our team continues to cooperate with the Oak Lawn Police Department as they complete their investigation.”
