Derrick Rose Sprains Ankle in Home Opener

Derrick Rose sprained his ankle in a losing game against the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday

Derrick Rose sprained his ankle during the second quarter of the Chicago Bulls' game against the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night. The Bulls lost 114-108 in overtime.

Rose sat out the fourth quarter and overtime session after attempting to continue play in the third quarter.

"I just sprained my ankle and had to sit out," Rose said in an article for the Chicago Sun-Times. "I'm walking around, so everyone can breathe. I hurt it in the first half, tried to give it a go in the second half, but it kind of limited me a little bit, shooting jump shots and wasn't getting the bounce I wanted."

This isn't the first time Rose has had an injury on the court. Last year, he experienced a serious injury to his right knee in a game against Portland. In the 2012-13 season, he tore the meniscus in his left knee in a season-ending injury.

The x-rays for his ankle injury came back negative, Rose said in the Sun-Times article.
