New Video Recaps Derrick Rose's Recovery

"I want to be great," Rose said. "I’m gonna be great”

Derrick Rose’s return to the NBA is one of the more compelling storylines heading into the 2012-2013 campaign. There has been much speculation about how quickly he’ll return from knee surgery and if he’ll be the same player once he's back.

To capitalize on Rose's recovery as he continues rehab on his surgically repaired left knee, adidas began filming a documentary to give fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his life since that fateful Saturday in April when the Bulls championship hopes and dreams were shattered.

The documentary is called “The Return of D. Rose” and the first installment of the film, titled “Belief,” released to YouTube on Wednesday.

The video is narrated by Rose and is just shy of three minutes in length. In it, Derrick relives the injury and remembers his initial consultation with Dr. Brian Cole. It also shows the emotion behind his visits to the hospital both the day of and after the surgery.

The video gives a glimpse into his rehab regimen and just how hard Derrick has been working at it.

Near the end, Rose mentions what has helped him stay motivated as he continues to work hard in preparation to rejoin the Bulls:

“Nobody believed in me in the beginning, just me and my friends. But with me, my friends, my city and my fans, that’s it, that’s all I need. I want to be great. I’m gonna be great.”
