Chicago Police are awaiting an autopsy to declare the cause of death for a 66-year-old man found decomposed Monday in his Englewood home.
Police found John Rich Sr.’s body Monday evening in his bedroom at his home in the 1000 block of West 59th Street while doing a well-being check requested by a relative, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
It was unclear how long he had been dead, but the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office reportedly said Tuesday morning that Rich had been shot. The medical examiner's office later retracted their statement pending an autopsy, but a source told the Sun-Times that a live round of ammunition was found next to the body.
A death investigation awaits the autopsy results, but police declared the death non-criminal early Tuesday, the Sun-Times reports.
