Christian Choate's Sister Admits She Beat Him

The teen testified her parents ordered her to punish Christian

The sister of a murdered Gary boy relived the nightmarish life her brother endured at her parents' hands.

Christina Choate, 17, testified Monday at the bail hearing of her father, Riley Choate, and her father's estranged wife, Kimberly Kubina. The teen described the abuse she was forced to deliver to her 13-year-old brother, Christian Choate, before his April 2009 death, the Times of Northwest Indiana reports

The teen told the court she followed her parents' orders to hit her brother, chain him to a bed and keep him locked up in a dog cage. She revealed allegations accusing her brother of molesting a family member turned her against him.

“We weren’t close,” she said.

Christina testified her father beat Christian to death and took it out on her.

“He beat me and told me it was my fault my brother was dead,” she said.

Christina said her stepmother ordered her to wrap Christian’s body in a blanket and trash bags.

Riley Choate led police two years later to where Christian’s body was buried underneath concrete in the Black Oaks section of Gary, said Lake County Sheriff police Deputy Cmdr. Matt Eaton.

Choate and Kubina are facing murder and other charges in connection with Christian’s death. The pair is asking a judge to grant them bond while they wait for their May trial.
