Driver Faces DUI Charge for Hitting Hospital Building

DUI charge for driver who crashed into hospital building

A Lincoln Park woman faces a DUI charge after smashing into a hospital building and a dozen parked cars along the way. Police say her blood alcohol content was almost three times the legal limit.

Carol Rolowicz, 62, of the 2600 block of North Wayne Avenue was behind the wheel of a 2007 Ford Explorer Tuesday night when she lost control, police said.

She crashed into a dozen parked cars before hitting an office building at Children's Memorial Hospital in the 700 block of West Fullerton Avenue, according to police.

A hospital spokeswoman said it is unclear if anyone was inside the building at the time of the crash.

Rolowicz was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. A second person also was treated for minor injuries.

Police charged Rolowicz with a misdemeanor DUI.
