Cubs Vs. Sox Rivalry At White House?

The first lady confirms her allegiance to the Cubs

Is the First Lady a Cubs fan?

When questioned at an event Thursday about her baseball team preference, Michelle Obama confirmed that she will always root for the North Side.

The question was posed by a 10-year-old boy at the White House's annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day when he asked the First Lady, “Are you as big of a White Sox fan as your husband?”

Mrs. Obama replied with a heartfelt recollection that although she lived on the South Side, she and her father would watch the Cubs games together after she arrived home from school.

“That’s one thing that he and I did – when I would come home from school, the Cubs would be playing,” said Obama. “They’d usually be just in the third inning by the time I got home from school at 3:30 p.m., and Jose Cardenal would be third man up to bat, and we’d sit and watch the game."

However, when addressing the children of Executives Office employees, Michelle Obama further stated that as a Chicagoan, she loves all the city’s teams.
