Cubs Seek To Build Hotel Across From Wrigley

Deal contingent on agreement to renovate stadium

Spending a full day at the Friendly Confines would be a lot more convenient if you were able to wake up across the street.

That could soon become a reality now that the Ricketts family announced plans Thursday to build a boutique hotel across from Wrigley Field on Clark Street, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A family spokesman told the newspaper that the hotel would go through if a deal is struck with lawmakers to renovate the stadium.

The Cubs bought the property from McDonald's a couple of years ago, with a caveat that one of the fast-food restaurants be included in any planned renovations.

Last week, Cub officials met with a neighborhood group to float plans for the area that included space for farmer's markets and outdoor movies, and a bigger ice rink.
