Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said the driver of the van suffered a concussion

Chicago Police have confirmed a protester was injured by a police vehicle during a Saturday night rally.

Chicago police spokeswoman Melissa Stratton told the Associated Press Sunday the driver of the police van was punched through the window while the vehicle was surrounded by protesters.

Witnesses said the van accelerated through the crowd and hurt a protester who was caught in front of the vehicle. The protester was taken by ambulance, but there's no word on whether the person remains hospitalized.

Police Supt. Garry McCarthy told reporters Sunday the driver of the van suffered a concussion.

The protest was part of a wandering march that lasted eight hours through the city.
