Cops: 4 Businesses Burglarized on Near North Side

Police are warning business owners about a string of burglaries last month on the Near North Side.

In each incident, the burglars pried open the front door of a business before forcing open cash registers and stealing money, according to an alert from Chicago police.

The burglaries happened:

• during the early morning hours Aug. 15 in the 200 block of West Grand in the River North neighborhood;

• during the early morning hours Aug. 17 in the 200 block of East Grand on the border between the Gold Coast and Streeterville neighborhoods;

• during the early morning hours Aug. 19 in the 300 block of East Illinois in the Streeterville neighborhood; and

• during the early morning hours Aug. 25 in the 400 block of North Wabash in the Near North neighborhood.

The burglars are described as two black males, thought to be between the ages of 30 and 35, standing between 5-foot-9 and 6-feet and weighing between 185 pounds and 200 pounds, police said.
