Smoking Ban Begins at College of DuPage

Smoking ban takes effect at the campus in Glen Ellyn

A smoking ban takes effect Monday at the College of DuPage after the board of trustees formally approved a "tobacco-free campus" back in April.

The 273-acre COD campus in Glen Ellyn joins about 650 other colleges or universities nationwide with similar smoking bans.

McHenry County College and all four campuses of Waubonsee Community College already have smoking bans in place, according to the Daily Herald

Violators of the COD ban face citations from the college's police department or even disciplinary action.

The College of Lake County also is considering a possible ban.
