Church Damaged by Suspicious Fire

A suspicious fire damaged a church early Sunday in the Norwood Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The fire was reported about 1:50 a.m. in a building that housed a Metra train waiting area as well as a neighboring church in the 6800 block of North Northwest Highway, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

No one was injured but there was smoke and water damage, Zala said. The fire was contained to a restroom.

A Metra spokesperson was not available for comment.

The police Bomb and Arson Unit is investigating.
