A young girl is in critical condition after being pulled from the water at Montrose Beach Friday evening.
It happened at about 7:30 p.m., fire officials say.
The 3-year-old was pulled from the water by civilians and taken to a local hospital, according to Chicago Police News Affairs.
Officials are still not sure how the young girl ended up in the water alone.
The girl was reportedly showing improvements Saturday morning and was stabilized, but remained in critical condition.
