Chicago Woman Charged With Death of Marlen Ochoa Gives Birth

Desiree Figueroa gave birth on Nov. 1, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office

A Chicago woman, who along with her mother were charged with killing pregnant Chicago teen Marlen Ochoa-Lopez and cutting her unborn baby from her womb, gave birth to a baby in early November, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

Desiree Figueroa had a baby on Nov. 1, and was back in jail as of Nov. 18.

Additional information, including if the baby was in the custody of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, remained unclear Monday evening.

Desiree, 26, and her 46-year-old mother Clarissa, were accused of luring 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez to Clarissa Figueroa's home in April by offering to give her baby clothes, and then strangling her and cutting the baby from her womb.

Clarisa Figueroa then went to a hospital with the brain-damaged newborn, claiming it was hers.

The infant, Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, died in June after weeks on life support. His death was ruled a homicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner, which said the child died from a lack of oxygen and blood to his brain and cited "maternal assault and demise."
